About the Facilitators

Dr. Elizabeth Watters

Dr. Elizabeth Watters is a professor of couple and family therapy, an EMDR-trained clinician, and an educator specializing in complex PTSD, adolescent development, and gender-affirming care. Dr. Watters brings a deeply reflexive, trauma-informed, and identity-conscious lens to all educational spaces. They teach graduate-level systemic sex therapy, integrating evidence-based approaches to sexual development, intimacy, LGBTQ+ sexualities, pornography, alternative sexual practices, and ethical clinical decision-making within family systems. Drawing from their clinical work and the curriculum they teach, Dr. Watters supports parents in understanding adolescent sexuality through a developmentally-informed, culturally responsive, and strengths-based framework. Their approach emphasizes open communication, creating safer family environments for questions and exploration, and equipping caregivers with accurate, inclusive information that reflects the lived experiences of today’s youth.
