Join us for a Continuing Education Unit training that provide licensed mental health providers with practical, culturally-responsive tools for integrating spirituality into client care while maintaining ethical, trauma-informed practice. Using the bio-psycho-social-spiritual model as our framework, we will explore best practices for assessing spirituality and identifying spiritual/religious trauma.
Objectives
Explain best practices for assessing spirituality (including the Spiritual Attachment Scale) and identifying spiritual/religious trauma.
Engage in client-centered conversations around spirituality and religion, especially with those who have experienced harm in faith-based contexts.
Integrate evidence-based models such as IFS and Narrative Therapy to address spiritual parts and experiences.
Apply principles of cultural humility and DEIB when working with clients from diverse faith backgrounds, including LGBTQIA2S+ and neurodiverse individuals.
Explain crisis intervention scenarios involving religious beliefs, including fear of death and suicide-related concerns, and exploring redemptive spiritual narratives around mental health.
Discuss strategies for collaboration with spiritual directors and other interdisciplinary practitioners.
